Mission
To provide timely and accurate data and information designed to meet the needs of our customers. Primary clientele include the president, vice presidents, academic deans, as well as state and federal agencies. Secondary clientele include faculty, staff, and other external customers.
Responsibilities

Serves as the reporting office for mandated reports to the National Center for Education Statistics at the U.S. Department of Education, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, Legislative Budget Board, and the NCAA. Institutional Research recently added Texas legislative mandates for publishing reports on the web, conducting a biennial customer satisfaction survey, and auditing the semester credit hours submitted to the Legislative Budget Board during funding cycles.

Responds to external surveys that are the source of information for college guidebooks; designs and conducts Texas State surveys to assess services; performs statistical analyses to evaluate policies on issues ranging from faculty salary equity to student admission standards; and provides training to Texas State employees in the use of its resources for planning.

Provides workshops to faculty and staff on the use of its information resources for planning, grant writing, and other activities that require data.

Creates the Texas State Fact Book and other reports about Texas State and its peers on-line. In 2003 and 2005, committees of the Texas Association for Institutional Research (TAIR) voted the Texas State Fact Book the
Best Electronic Fact Book in Texas.
